Wilderness Cry (Soft)

It’s a jungle out there;

can you hear the cries?

There’s nothing like that

very first nicotine high.

Where your limbs are shaky,

your eyes are spotted—

allergic to light.

Your bones get soft and

your mouth goes dry.

And you wonder if you’ll

Be alright.

 And that world keeps you

Spinning, twice as fast

Maybe three times.

And oh the weight is gone

Just another notch in your spine

weightless hour,

racing heart.

My bones too soft

for fighting.

When I’m back on my feet

I’ll join the wilderness cries.
