R.I.P.E November

What is it with you, November?

What makes some so sad upon your arrival?

The holidays are beginning to fill the air, and for some this is not the case

Their table will not be filled with good company

Stockings will not be hung

The candles will not be lit for 8 consecutive nights

Silence fills their cars, not carols

As they aimlessly drive amongst overly lit houses

Anxiety fills their bellies, not sugared snowflakes

Instead of greeting cards, their families will recieve notices

To hang up their holiday sweaters and bring out their darkest attire

What is it with you, November?

Have you no love for the lost and tired?

Can you not comfort the struggling and weak?

November you have come on too strong this year

Maybe next year you can be wiser

Maybe next year you won’t come so soon
